Where I live, we really do not get much of a fall. Leaves just change from green to, well, “less green” & the weather only goes from sweltering hot to slightly bearable. However, my mind must live somewhere in the Carolina’s – because when October hits I immediately start reaching for my puffer vests! I figured most southern girls can relate to this same problem, so I thought it would be great to share a few tips on styling puffer vests when temps barely even start to get cooler.
We all know J.Crew is the holy grail of puffer vests (obsessing over this one), but I really do love Old Navy‘s vests (how CUTE is the “red check” pattern!?). They are not nearly as “puffy” as J.Crew’s, so that is great for this time of year when you just need a light extra layer. My favorite way to wear mine in the fall is over a gingham (mine is J.Crew Factory and the fit is amazing) or chambray button down versus a sweater, because I feel like that is appropriate for the season while avoiding looking like a total crazy girl who tries to wear big, bulky layers when by noon it’ll be back in the 80’s – you feel me? We were blessed enough to get a nice cold front this weekend, so I got to wear riding boots (!!!) but I would usually opt for some flats or maybe short booties to finish off the look.
