Let me start with this. You know that quote that goes something like “A year from now, you will have wished you started today” ?
Yeah. True. But here we are – over a year later and I have a new post, consisting of nothing but imperfect iPhone photos, all of which have slightly odd coloring due to being completely edited using iPhone apps. Here is the beautiful thing about that though – that is real life. As much as I wish I had the luxury of devoting a day out of the week to do full hair and makeup, get dressed and fully accessorize 5 different outfits (outfits I will probably NEVER wear again except in the pictures you see on this blog), and hire a photographer to shoot those outfits using a fancy camera – I DO NOT have that luxury. Hopefully one day, I will! But for now, this is it, y’all. No social media fluffiness here. Just an outfit I wore and forced my fiancé to snap some quick pictures of. That is what Sweet Tea, Southern Style will be for the time being. Outfits I really wear, and most likely force a family member to snap some pictures of.
If anyone is even reading this, you probably don’t even care all that much about anything I just said. But as a girl that spends an unhealthy amount of time per day on instagram looking at other fashion bloggers, I do. Social media has created such unrealistic expectations about life. Every moment has to be picture perfect. Lighting has to be just right. Don’t duplicate the same pose too much – it will throw off the flow of your feed. Oh speaking of your feed – shame on you if you do not have a cohesive insta-theme. And make sure you get a good shot of that Starbucks your drinking – it will probably be ice cold by the time you take your first sip, but at least you got the pic for insta, right?
Okay, I think you get it now. Believe it or not, what I really want to talk about (which is why I created a fashion blog in the first place) is my outfit. THESE JEANS. Every lady needs a pair of Levi’s high-rise 721’s. Throw them on with a black long sleeve tee and some booties and you have the easiest fall outfit ever. The star of the show is the backpack though.
I really need a full post just devoted to this bag! It is a Wool & Oak backpack, but it’s actually just a co-star in the coolest (seriously, coolest) set of leather bags ever invented. I honestly am not even sure how to put into words everything these bags can do – just watch this Wool & Oak video. Han and I already have our calendar pretty booked next year with weekend trips, and if it were up to him we would be packing in these super huge and not at all fashionable black backpacks with a million different mesh compartments that I’m pretty certain were designed for hiking up mountains or something. So a super nice leather duffle bag that can be converted into a backpack? I’ll take it!
My mom just exploded a 2 liter of Dr. Pepper on our dog, so I now must go wipe him off so he isn’t all sticky. Until next time!
