Who am I?
Hi there, nice to meet you. Thank you so much for visiting my blog! If my quick little “about me” in the sidebar wasn’t enough, keep on reading. We’ll start with the basics. I currently live in southern Louisiana, and when I’m not blogging I am living a super exciting life as a pharmacist. I wish I could use the rigors of pharmacy as the basis for dubbing myself “the 20 something year-old grandmaw” but the truth is, I’ve always been a major homebody. I enjoy quiet nights in way more than nights out, however I do love some good live music and a movie date every now and then! The blog name stemmed from the fact that I am borderline obsessed with sweet tea and simply adore any and all things southern – the style, the charm, the food, the hospitality… it is more than a way of life; it’s a state of mind.
Why did I start this blog?
Sweet Tea, Southern Style has been a little glimmer in the back of my mind for years now. However, grad school prevented me from pursuing my blogging goals. I had a clear vision and knew exactly what I wanted to put into this, but I also knew that if I started in the middle of my studies I would not have the time to make it everything I wanted it to be. I have always had an interest in fashion (I know, I know – so cliche for a girl) but in addition to that, and somewhat more important when it comes to blogging, a major interest in writing and editing. Before deciding on pharmacy school, the plan was to major in English. Big difference from the medical field, right? Well, job security is an important thing, y’all. Anyways, the point is that even though I decided to go in a different direction career-wise, I never lost my passion for writing. As I entered my 20’s and began to develop my own sense of style rather than just following the latest trends, I started to really enjoy not just wearing cute clothes but the entire process of styling – thinking about all the elements of an outfit and how many ways basic pieces I had in my closet could be put together to produce an entirely different look and feel. This new found enjoyment combined with my long term interest in writing and editing is exactly why I started this blog. It is something I sincerely enjoy and love doing, and I hope you enjoy it too!
